The Moscow Trio exists in its present formation since 1976 and has since become one of the most esteemed and leading chamber ensembles in Russia. The Trio received many high cultural awards including the Prize of the City of Moscow in 1996. Thier repertoire comprises more than 200 works of different styles. They had the honour of giving the first public performance of Shostakovich Trio No 1, and made world premiers of many trios by contemporary Russian, European and American composers many of these were specially written and dedicated to the Moscow Trio.
